Hiya ;o)
Eye was sitting today in class and suddenly, it occured to me that parhaps eye.d like to share some of the things which eye absolutely loves about living in India... sometimes, it's a love/hate relationship eye haves with the Ma...however, the love- by far, outweighs the hate.
Eye loves all of the deep, profound, life changing, enhancements to m.eye be+ing eye have experienced in an exceedingly short expansi. On of time. Like, how to be see the Divine in aAlllll of life, even within the conundrums and daily aggravations (that one WILL experience here in India,) how to be stronger, more grounded, more patient, more open and expaaaanded. Eye learn, day after day, the gift of surrender and accept.ance. Eye loves the temples, the Sarees, the ancient tribal.nEss of the culture, the many, many wondering cows and bulls with painted horns. Eye loves rice fields, Cardamom or Tea plantations and the different hues of greEn which each possessss. Eye loves that it is sO organic..without being "organic" and trendy. It's back to the basics in deez parts, fer sure. Eye loves that spirituality is so over the top and out in da open...even if it is more cultural then connectiON-felt. It's not hushed away like it is in America. When people here are Christian..they are eminEnt.ly Christian..Hindu's are eminent.ly Hindu's and they ain't afraid to show it. The spiritual aspects of the culture are deeply woven into the very fabric of conscious exis.dance...even within the small minute details of day to day life. Eye loves Indian sunsets. Eye loves that people fart and burp in public. Eye loves the plethora of amazing birds which eye can see soarin above the forest cano.py from m.eye balcony. Eye loves that there are so many traditions, philosophies, and ancient schools of thought in which one can explore the self. Eye believes that the mysteries of life cAn be found in deez landz. Becuase of many thousands of years of transgression and the many billions of minds that have come and gone trough the timez...the essence of the Veda's have been lost on the main stream of India, however, one need not look too far or dig too deep to find the vast array of treasure that lies beneath the surface. The immense population spurt, Industrial revolution, and modern technology....have done incredible, unfathomable, amounts of damage- on an economic, ecological, and sociatal level, however, where eye lives- people stIll manage to be vEry much in tune with Mother Earth. They way that food is eaten with the hand- eye luv...it surely helps one connect more fully to the experience that is eating. Eye loves the food. The area in which eye live is very affluent, yet even though they may live in modern, mega homes...it is still as if they are living in a village 200 years ago. Eye loves the way that children's faces light up when they see me, espEciallies when 15 or 20 of thems crowds around me body temple..so eager to have me direct m.eye energy towards them with a simple smile. Eye loves the smell of incense that permEates evErywhere. Eye loves that it's so simplistic. Eye loves the childs-like inno.cense. Eye loves that the Keralean culture is sO round. If you've seen the way Malayalam is written...it's very round and continuo.US. That is how they think...they way their minds work. You can notice that even the word Malayalam is spelled the same back to front as from to back. A Keralean friend once told me the he'd never dream of saying "I'm leaving" he'd only say "I'll leave and come back" (even if he's not really coming back.) The sharpness that stings American culture is simply not present here. Desperate, at times- sure, but not sharp. Eye loves that people can walk with so many things balanced on their heads. Eye loves that a family of 5 will ride around on a motor bike. Eye loves m.eye Ayurveda pro.gram. Eye loves that the menz wear dresses. Eye loves tree houses. Eye loves bangles. Eye loves all of the many, many, many Palm Treez..... Kerala does, after all, mean the land of the Coconut treez. Eye loves the cool ass, wooden boats that eye witnEssess slice right through the ohhhhh, so crim.sOn sunny-sun dipping into the sea. Eye loves seeing Om symbols evErywhere. Eye loves the fruity, crazy, hand painted, public busses. Eye loves the fruity, crazy, hand painted, miniature temple on wheels-Keralean rickshaws. Eye loves the head wobbling and hand flicking. Eye loves the villages. Eye loves the back waters. Eye loves that people get on the train wearing no shoes….
